Do you want to make a vegan world? I want to make a vegan world. Let’s make a vegan world…together! [tweet this] What’s that? you want to know how? I’m glad you asked. because I will tell you how. Let’s do it! ( be sure to watch the video for my funny delivery.)
Today’s video post is kind of a grab bag of stuff, so get ready for some uncharacteristically unorganized business crammed together into an overstuffed announcemnugget (announcement + nugget = announcmenugget) by necessity!
I actually had a number of entertaining and elaborate ideas for how to present all of the info in this video but ran out of time and brainpower. So, we’re gonna do it a bit like a board meeting. (Which is an awful idea).
Which, brings us to:
As many of you know, I work on Bite Size Vegan more than full-time, generally around 90 hours a week, sometimes more, sometimes less…usually more. Some videos can take between 40 and 70+ hours to make and my assistant (read: Ooby) …is…less than helpful. (Read: sleeps and farts at day.)
I threw myself full force into Bite Size Vegan and am working out the practicalities to fit the mission rather than the other way around, quitting med school and my job to do activism full time. (Much to the horror of my mother.)
(And don’t worry–this whole video isn’t going to be money-focused just so you know. But this part is.)
Back in December, an anonymous donor stepped forwards to offer a one-to-one match up to $1,000 for that month and thus began the Double-Your-Money-Direct-Donations-December-Drive. we met that goal and, as promised, I did a victory dance.
Well, that same incredible donor has come back to offer a second one-to-one match of $1,000- and since I’m only announcing this now, we’ll call it the Mid-May-Money-Matching-Monetary-Madness! The “monetary” bit’s a bit redundant…but it sounds better with the 6 m’s. [tweet this]
So, basically, if you give a one-time donation anytime before June 15th, your money will be doubled! And if we reach the $1,000 matching amount, this time I'll let you decide what I do in celebration…in case you weren’t too impressed with my epic dance moves. And you don’t have to donate to suggest–just write in a comment below what you would like to see me do if we meet the goal.
(Don’t be gross.)
I want to be clear about some things with all of this as money is a sensitive subject.
First off, you never have to pay to watch my content, or even get my ebook. my videos will always remain free because I don’t think anyone should have to pay to learn about veganism and the animals certainly don’t deserve to have any more barriers to the truth of what they go through.
Second off (which isn’t a thing, but for continuity, we’re going with it) you can support Bite Size Vegan in so many ways that are totally free! Like watching, liking, commenting, sharing the crap out of the videos, and some other ways I’ll talk about in item #2.
And third off (cause that’s what I’m doing if you’re wondering where the money goes–it goes right back into the creation of effective vegan education, and to Ooby’s sweet potato habit.)
I’m constantly trying to improve my work and get the most accurate information delivered in the most engaging and effective manner possible. If you want to see how the videos have affected some people, check out the testimonials page. And there’s actually about 4 more pages I need to add to that…. but again the whole…time thing.
But I do this work in an effort to make a difference for the animals, the environment, and for you. And I’m forever humbled by your support of my efforts, in any form.
At the moment, the most immediate need at the moment is a new computer. Mine has been on its last leg for quite some time and crashes rather regularly while I’m making videos, leading to many a late-night/mid-morning emotional breakdown. And I think it’s finally time to upgrade from iMovie, though my technophobia is not a fan of such a move…
I need to get a pretty snazzy mac with higher video processing capabilities, so most likely up in the $3,000 range. If, by some miracle of the universe, we reach that amount by June 15th, I’ll either do the craziest suggestion I get or the best specified for that goal. So, in your comment suggestion you can include one for the $1,000 goal and one for the computer goal.
So…shake it off, the money talk is over! I appreciate it if you stuck through with that!
If you want to help support Bite Size Vegan in a more proactive but non-financial manner, I do need help with some things like formatting the translated ebooks when they are done–and adding new videos to the current ebook and can’t find the time. So if you’re good with something like Open Office, hit me up.
I could also use help inserting new testimonials onto the website if you have basic WordPress experience. And I’m sure i can rustle up some other stuff.
So, if you’re into that kind of stuff, you can contact me via the contact me page…makes sense…
And now, after all that talk of what you can do for me, let’s talk about what I have for you!
Just kidding! I’m part of an upcoming free Online Vegan Summit created by health educator Laura Christine Sainz who has interviewed the world’s top-leading health experts, including Dr. T. Colin Campbell, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Dr. Neal Barnard, and Dr. John McDougall, plus 20 more Emmy winning chefs, world-champion athletes, best-selling authors, celebrity health coaches, bloggers, and more. [tweet this]
Including me…for some reason.
So, all you have to do to get in on this action is use the link in the video description or there and sign on up. It’s totally free and you should get the details in your email but it starts may 27th with speakers every day.
So, there you have it–what a mess of a nugget, eh? I had such high hopes and some really great concepts for this…but this is what you get on 2 hours sleep.
Depending on how much sleep I get, you guys might get a nugget that is made out of sock puppets.
(I should totally do that!)
In summation–double your money with the Mid-May-Money-Matching-Monetary-Madness [donate here], tell me below what you’d like to see me do if we reach either of the funding goals– and keep it relatively clean, but weirdness is totally welcomed, even expected. Let me know if you want to do some volunteer work–unfortunately no community service credits are available for your parole–and join me and a ton of vegan experts in the free summit!
And thank you so, so much for all of your support in whatever form it may come!
