Want To Interview Gary Yourofsky Yourself? Here’s How!

Have you ever watched any of Gary Yourofsky's powerful talks and interviews and wanted to ask him a question of your very own?  Well, here's your chance!  As some of you may know, I recently met up with my friend and mentor Gary Yourofsky.  We are working on a video collaboration together that I’m super excited about and that will be released on the Bite Size Vegan channel when it’s done, but we also took some time to do an interview.  However, Florida is a gross and fickle state and while we planned to film in a lovely park, a rainstorm hit and we had to make do in an overhang outside a daycare.  Which is kind of super creepy…

Anyways, the combination of a small window of time, awful weather and my non-existent technical skills, resulted in some less than ideal audio.  but do not fret!  I’m meeting up again with Gary at the end of the month and we're gonna have an indoor location and more time.  So now I’m opening it up to everyone, with members of the newsletter still getting priority for their questions.  so, what do you want to ask Gary?   If you have no idea who I'm talking about, watch Gary’s speech.

I’m honored to have the opportunity to interview him and so excited to offer you the opportunity to ask him questions of your own.  And I’ll do my best to get as many questions answered as possible.  And, if you want to see some behind-the-scenes footage with Gary, like Ooby meeting him for the first time, as well as get a free ebook and some other exclusives, sign up for the nugget newsletter at the top of this page or bottom of this post.  It’s free and you’ll get exclusive access to the new VIV (very important vegan) section, where I post exclusive content, and give you access to my personally assembled list of vegan resources.

So, fire away in the comment below guys, and hopefully we will get enough content that October will be the month of Gary!

See ya next nugget!

hmmm, ‘super dreamy’ – now that doesn’t appear in your ‘transcript’ emily!!! (but he is definitely that – must have something to do with his mind – the way he thinks!!!)

    • Emily Moran Barwick (BiteSizeVegan) on September 12, 2014 at 1:21 pm

Oh the blog posts aren’t direct transcripts. Some are completely different than what i say in the video! But it is in the video transcriptif you look there ;P and yes, a great mind is definitely dreamy ;)

I would like to know what Gary thinks about the ALF and if he supports and recommends people take action like the ALF and if so how should people go about doing it? Also I fangirled really hard when I saw you were doing videos with Gary:)Love you!

    • Emily Moran Barwick (BiteSizeVegan) on September 12, 2014 at 7:30 pm

My question is how to go about veganism with certain subcultures? For my case the furry fandom and our communities high level of cognitive dissonance, for god sake my last event donated 16k to a wildlife rescue yet can’t put their compassion into full circle.

    • Emily Moran Barwick (BiteSizeVegan) on September 14, 2014 at 2:28 am

interesting issue Alan. i think this is common in a lot of groups. for instance animal rescue/humane society types who spend all their time and energy rescuing cats and dogs but continue to eat pigs, cows and chickens. thanks for the question! i’ve got it down. and ps- wouldn’t you think that emulating animals would create a bond that would deter one from consuming animals? it would seem to be logical..

      • Alan on September 14, 2014 at 10:26 pm

You’d think that would be the case, but like any internet based group it’s like a barrel of apples, it has bad ones. Yet “lionism” is legit in the fandom which I’ll never wrap my head around. But I’m glad to be bringing such ideals to the masses.

I have 3 questions that may or may not have already been asked. 1) How do you help your family understand going Vegan? I have a very redneck family that likes to raise animals for slaughter and hunt and fish and no matter how I explain they always comeback with “It’s not all inhumane” they never get it when I tell them there is no such thing as “humane” murder. 2)What are some good vegan comebacks? Whenever I share stuff on my facebook I always get at least one “mmmm bacon” or “mmmm steak” reply how can I reply without coming off as a total B*tch (Ignorant people bring it out in me) and last but not least 3) How do you deal with the people who decide to go with the “plants have feelings so we should eat meat” route? I know it is easily one of the stupidest things probably every vegan hears. How do you reply to that?

    • Emily Moran Barwick (BiteSizeVegan) on September 14, 2014 at 12:15 pm

these are great questions Brandi and i have added them to the list! have you seen my video on the “humane” issue and the plant issue? those may be helpful but i’m still putting these on the list for some gary input!

      • Brandi Mathis on September 16, 2014 at 7:10 am

I will definitely check out the videos. And I had to laugh at myself because I had a “fangirl” moment where I got excited because Gary is going to be answering my questions. Lol. =)

Damn maybe im too late to submit a question. But if not ask him how he feels about killing house flies and cockroaches that invade a home

Things have definitely been looking up in the vegan community here in Chicago. In utter awe would be an understatement the first time I saw Gary’s speech; I immediately was wondering after he was imprisoned in Canada, what did he eat? A legitimate question considering his length of imprisonment and the lack of vegan options in the incarceration system.
